The Federal Government of Nigeria has launched the second phase of the Nigeria Jubilee Fellows Programme (NJFP 2.0), targeting the creation of at least 20,000 jobs annually for young graduates across the country. The initiative, supported by the European Union and implemented by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), seeks to equip high-potential graduates with practical work experience, training, and mentorship opportunities.
The programme aims to place a minimum of 24,000 fellows over the next 10 months in various sectors, including agriculture, digital technology, renewable energy, manufacturing, and the creative industries. Vice President Kashim Shettima, who inaugurated the Project Steering Committee for NJFP 2.0, emphasized that the programme is designed to bridge the gap between learning and earning for thousands of educated but unemployed Nigerians.
The NJFP 2.0 reflects a joint effort by the Nigerian government, the EU, and UNDP to create a stronger and more inclusive workforce for Nigeria’s growing economy. The programme will provide 12-month paid fellowships, offering graduates meaningful placements in both public and private sectors, with a monthly stipend of ₦150,000.
The European Union Ambassador to Nigeria and ECOWAS, Gautier Mignot, reaffirmed the EU’s support, stating that the programme would transform the lives of young Nigerians. Similarly, UNDP Resident Representative Elsie Attafuah described NJFP 2.0 as part of a broader national and continental vision to build sustainable job ecosystems.
Applications for NJFP 2.0 will officially open on October 22, 2025, at 5:00 PM (WAT), and interested graduates are advised to prepare their documents and meet the eligibility criteria.
