Abuja, Nigeria – Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, who represents Kogi Central in the Senate, was briefly detained and had her passport seized by Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) officials at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, while attempting to travel out of the country. The incident, which caused a stir at the departure terminal, is widely perceived to be connected to the ongoing political tensions involving the Senator and the leadership of the National Assembly.
