APPOINTMENT LETTER CRISIS: ONDO AMOTEKUN SUSPENDED AND DECLARED THREE OFFICERS WANTED FOR MISCONDUCT

The Ondo State Security Network Agency, codenamed Amotekun Corps, has suspended and declared three of its officers wanted for gross misconduct and tarnishing the agency’s image. The affected officers are Abu Taiwo, Akinsipe Victor, and Ekujumi Julius. According to the State Commander, Akogun Adetunji Adeleye, the officers were sponsored to undermine and disparage the management of the corps, and their actions were deemed a serious breach of the oath of allegiance and secrecy binding on personnel.

This development comes amid controversy surrounding the Amotekun Corps, with allegations of power abuse, forced loyalty, and payroll secrecy leveled against Commander Adeleye. Senior officers have petitioned, citing unfair treatment, unpaid salaries, and lack of appointment letters. The petitioners also accused Adeleye of personally handling salary payments and inflating the number of operatives to obtain more state funding.

The suspension and declaration of the three officers as wanted has sparked a heated debate about the management of the Amotekun Corps. While the commander has maintained that the corps will not tolerate acts that breach its integrity and oath of allegiance, the allegations against him raise questions about the agency’s leadership and its ability to serve the people of Ondo State.

The crisis within the Amotekun Corps has left many wondering about the future of the agency and its ability to effectively carry out its mandate. As the investigation into the suspended officers continues, it remains to be seen how the agency’s leadership will address the allegations against it and restore confidence in the corps.
