The core of the revolt stems from claims that Ademoyegun engaged in a systematic “illegal displacement” of the party’s grassroots leadership by ignoring a direct order from the National Headquarters to keep all existing leadership structures—produced during the 2022 congress—intact. Instead, he is accused of unilaterally removing legitimately elected LG Chairmen and replacing them with “strangers and impostors” allegedly handpicked by a Prof. Ayorinde, whom the party explicitly identifies as a non-member of the ADC. The petition alleges that Mr. Ademoyegun has effectively displaced the leadership of the party in more than 14 local governments in Ondo State, a move described by stakeholders as an attempt to plunder the party into an abyss of undemocratic tendencies.
The move to oust Ademoyegun was a coordinated uprising, supported by a documented list of 18 Local Government Chairmen who consented to the decision. Notable signatories include Mr. Adeyemi Abiodun (Akure South), Mr. Dauda Olusola (Ifedore), Chief Dayo Omoniyi (Akure North), Pius Oladimeji (Ondo West), Engr. Amaka Ibrahim (Owo), Elder Solomon (Akoko South West), and Hon. Moshood Raimi (Idanre), among others. The document points out the irony of the situation, noting that Ademoyegun himself was a beneficiary of the National Headquarters’ directive that preserved his own seat as State Chairman—a protection he allegedly refused to grant his subordinates. Consequently, the National Leadership has been notified to cease all further recognition or dealings with Mr. Ademoyegun in any manner whatsoever. Copies of the petition were also sent to Dr. Bamidele Ajadi, the Deputy National Chairman on Political and Politics, as the party’s state secretariat at No. 190, Oyemekuru Road, Akure, remains the center of this significant political firestorm.
