In a commendable display of responsive leadership and commitment to grassroots development, the Councillor representing the good people of Ugbo Ward III, Hon. Fayowole Minu, popularly known as Korolo, has fulfilled his educational pledge by paying the tuition fees of selected students across the ward.
The initiative, which covers one full academic year (three school terms), was part of a promise made at the conclusion of a Quiz Competition organized in Ugbo Ward III last year. At the end of the competition, eight (8) outstanding and academically exceptional students emerged as beneficiaries of the scholarship award, designed to encourage academic excellence and reduce the financial burden on parents and guardians.
On Thursday, February 5, 2026, a total sum of over ₦580,000 was officially disbursed to cover the beneficiaries’ tuition fees, marking the complete fulfillment of the councillor’s pledge. The gesture has been widely applauded by residents, education stakeholders, and community leaders as a clear demonstration of integrity, accountability, and people-centered governance.
Speaking during the announcement, Hon. Fayowole Minu Korolo reaffirmed his unwavering belief in education as the bedrock of sustainable community development. He described the initiative as a deliberate investment in the future of Ugbo Ward III, stressing that empowering young minds today is key to building responsible leaders tomorrow.
“This is not just about paying school fees; it is about restoring hope, rewarding excellence, and motivating our children to dream big. I am happy to fulfill this promise, and by God’s grace, we will do even more for our students,” the councillor stated.
He extended heartfelt congratulations to the beneficiaries of the Councillor’s Student Support Programme, urging them to remain disciplined, focused, and committed to their academic pursuits. According to him, the scholarship is both a reward for hard work and a challenge to continue striving for excellence.
Community members have lauded Hon. Fayowole Minu for leading by example, noting that the timely fulfillment of the promise reflects a leadership style anchored on sincerity and service. Many described the gesture as a rare but welcome show of political responsibility at the grassroots level.
Hon. Fayowole Minu Korolo, who also doubles as the Chairman, House Committee on Health, Ilaje Local Government, reiterated his commitment to initiatives that promote education, youth empowerment, healthcare development, and overall community welfare. He assured constituents that more people-oriented programs aimed at improving lives and expanding opportunities for young people would be rolled out in due course.
As Ugbo Ward III continues its journey toward growth and development, the councillor’s action stands as a powerful reminder that leadership is best measured not by promises made, but by promises kept.
