IGBOKODA, ONDO STATE — In a major drive to strengthen the All Progressives Congress (APC) at the grassroots, a leading aspirant for the Ondo State House of Assembly, Hon. Asogbon Mebinone, has provided substantial financial assistance to facilitate the party’s ongoing electronic membership registration across the six wards of Ilaje Constituency 2.
The intervention comes as a strategic response to the logistical complexities of the riverine region, ensuring that the digitalization of the party’s database—a key directive from the national leadership—reaches every eligible member in the coastal communities.
The support, which was distributed as cash gifts to party faithful and registration officials, covered Mahin Ward I, Mahin Ward II, Etikan, Aheri, Aiyetoro, and Ipaje wards. According to local party stakeholders, the funds are intended to cover transportation for members in remote areas, data procurement for registration officers, and general mobilization efforts to ensure no one is left behind before the registration window closes.
Speaking on the initiative, coordinators for Hon. Mebinone emphasized that the exercise is vital for the future of the party in Ondo State. As an aspirant eyeing the Ilaje Constituency 2 seat in the State House of Assembly, Mebinone’s gesture is viewed as a commitment to building a transparent, verifiable, and formidable party structure that empowers the common man.
The riverine geography of Ilaje often makes administrative tasks like e-registration expensive due to the high cost of boat fuel and the challenge of accessing stable internet in the “hinterlands.” By deploying this financial aid, Mebinone has significantly eased the burden on ward executives, allowing for a more inclusive and high-turnout exercise.
“The digital register is the bedrock of our internal democracy,” a community leader in Aiyetoro noted. “Honorable Mebinone has shown that he understands the pulse of the people by providing the resources needed to navigate our unique environment and participate in this national assignment.”
The APC e-registration is a cornerstone of the party’s reform agenda, aimed at eliminating manual errors and providing a level playing field for all members. With the January 31 deadline approaching, this intervention has sparked a surge in registration numbers across the constituency, as residents take advantage of the facilitated process to affirm their loyalty to the “Progressives” family.
As the race for the House of Assembly ticket heats up, this move by Hon. Asogbon Mebinone has been widely described as a demonstration of proactive leadership, positioning him as a candidate deeply invested in the organizational success and unity of the party in Ilaje
