With a heart full of gratitude to the Almighty God, and a deep sense of commitment to the people of Ilaje Constituency 1, I, Comrade Segun Ohunayo Ekudehinwa, today formally declare my intention to seek the nomination of our great party, the All Progressives Congress (APC), to contest the election for the Ondo State House of Assembly, representing Ilaje Constituency 1.

My decision to vie for this office is borne out of a genuine passion to translate our collective aspirations into concrete legislative action and accelerated development. Ilaje Constituency 1 deserves a representative who is not only dedicated and competent but who possesses the academic depth, youthful energy, and political experience necessary to advocate effectively for our critical needs in Akure.
*My Commitment to the APC and Mr. Governor*
As a true believer in the progressive ideals of the APC, and a tested, loyal member of this family, I pledge to uphold the party’s mandate. My commitment to the vision of our performing Governor is unwavering. I stand ready to be a reliable and resourceful ally in the Ondo State House of Assembly, ensuring a seamless legislative-executive partnership to deliver the dividends of democracy to the people of Ilaje.
*Qualifications and Experience: A Blend of Academia, Leadership, and Public Service*
My preparation for legislative duties is comprehensive, rooted in robust education and extensive practical experience:
* Academic Excellence: I possess a strong background in science and environmental management, holding a B.Tech. in Meteorology (Second Class Upper Honours) and an M.Tech. in Meteorology and Climate Science (Distinction) from the Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA), where I am currently pursuing my Ph.D. in the same field. This provides me with a unique analytical lens to tackle issues like climate change, coastal erosion, and infrastructure planning vital to our riverine constituency.
* Professional Depth: As a Lecturer at the Nigeria Maritime University, I have dedicated myself to mentoring young minds; a passion that extends to my political mission of youth empowerment.
* Political and Grassroots Leadership: My journey in public service has been defined by loyalty and community engagement, serving in various capacities:
* Special Assistant roles to a Member of the ODHA (on News Media) and the Chairman of OSOPADEC (on Youths and Students).
* A strong history in student and youth movements, including serving as National President and National Secretary of the National Association of Ilaje Students (NAIS) and as Coordinator for the National Youth Council of Nigeria (Ilaje LG Chapter).
* Presently, I coordinate The Lucky Guy Youth Movement (TLG) across Ilaje Local Government, demonstrating my capacity to mobilize and lead effectively.

My mission is to champion legislation and oversight that will focus on:
* Educational and Youth Development through strategic partnerships and mentorship initiatives.
* Infrastructure and Coastal Protection by advocating for projects that address the unique geographical challenges of our area.
* Economic Empowerment for our women and youth through vocational training and facilitating access to government support programs.
I humbly solicit the support of our respected party leaders, delegates, youth, women, and elders to secure the APC ticket. Together, we shall build a legislative legacy that Ilaje Constituency 1 will be proud of.
