FIRST LADY OLUREMI TINUBU DELIVERS ON PROMISE TO OBAFEMI AWOLOWO UNIVERSITY*
The First Lady of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has fulfilled her promise to Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife, by donating 21 brand-new shuttle buses to the institution. This gesture is part of her pledge to enhance the university’s transportation system and promote a safer, more efficient mobility environment for students and staff.
The buses, which were received on October 10, 2025, are the first phase of a total commitment of 50 buses. The Vice-Chancellor of OAU, Professor Adebayo Simeon Bamire, described the donation as “a luminous act of benevolence that illuminates the path toward institutional excellence.”
According to Professor Bamire, the shuttle buses will revolutionize the university’s internal mobility system, reducing congestion and minimizing accidents. The buses will also promote environmental stewardship by curbing emissions from commercial motorcycles.
Senator Tinubu’s donation is a significant stride toward modernizing the university’s beleaguered internal transportation system. The First Lady’s gesture has been met with excitement and gratitude from the university community, who hail it as a beacon of hope for safer, more dignified mobility.
This act of philanthropy is part of Senator Tinubu’s commitment to her alma mater, demonstrating her dedication to the institution’s growth and development. The university’s management has urged other alumni to emulate the First Lady’s example, noting that OAU’s journey toward greater heights demands collective effort.
SA Media congratulates Senator Oluremi Tinubu on this remarkable achievement and thanks her for her kindness to Obafemi Awolowo University.
