MOTHER OF FUGITIVE GAY NIGERIAN MEETS RIGHTS GROUP FOR HELP

Following an unsavoury community development which took place in Ukpor town, Nnewi South LGA, Anambra that happened on the 5th of March, 2020, regarding two homosexual lovers, Chinedu and Kingsley, caught sleeping with each other. The duo were caught in the act in an uncompleted building where they were employed as bricklayers. They were severely beaten and questioned to mention those they have been having affairs with. Sequel, Chinedu mentioned a few names who have been practicing homosexuality in the community including a fleeing Okoli Ekene Josephat who has been a major suspect for some years now.It was gathered that his father chased him away from home for being involved in such taboo.
Chinedu later mentioned that Josephat promised to take him abroad as soon as he has the means so they can both get married and live peacefully.
Nkechi Okoli, Josephat`s mother, together with the parents of other suspects approached a rights body for help consequently, as their sons were mentioned during a community outrage when Chinedu and Kingsley were almost killed by the community youths but for quick police intervention that landed them in custody.
According to 70 years old Nkechi while speaking with an indigenous rights vanguard, her son Josephat escaped from town when he was alleged to be one of the young men practising homosexuality in the community.
In tears, Josephat’s mother narrated to an agent  of the rights vanguard, Ndukwe Akuekwe, saying, ” My son fled years ago after his father and some community members threatened his life.
“An arrest warrant was even issued by the police for Josephat and the other suspects mentioned by Chinedu as his gay cohorts”
Kingsley’s mother also lamenting, said, “I am only a poor widow and my only son has been taken to the police station where his fate is unknown.                  “I need the authorities of human rights to help me call the community to order.
” I am still shocked that my son was named for  such a taboo. How can a male ever think of climbing another male?”, she lamented.
The rights advocate however assured that steps will be taken for justice, so that jungle justice will no longer reign.
