On what could be described as a historical feat ,the ohanaeze Ndigbo General Assembly WorldWide Lagos State ,an Apex pan Igbos socio_cultural body ,last week, paid a courtesy and a familiarisation visit to the Lagos State Director,Directorate of state service.(DSS).
The visit which was embarked upon by the organizations president,lagos state chapter.Chief Sir Eric Eze (Ochiagha) ,the Director General, Culture and Tourism,Chief Obioma Nnazor (Aguejiejemba) and all others Lagos State exco, was meant to also introduce or present the body as a duly registered group and to strike a cordial relationship with the DSS Lagos service.
Using the occasion of the visit the Apex body established the legality of the body as a duly registered body and warned all members of the public, especially Ndigbo,to desist from doing anything that will drag the name of the organization in the mud.
Part of the warnings dispensed before press men who lurked around the venue of the meeting were that no one or group should use the name or influence of the organization for selfish purposes: that no one should mistake the body as a political group because the ohanaeze Ndigbo General Assembly WorldWide is non_partisan :that anyone or group for any of the prohibited reasons will be duly prosecuted in accordance with the law.
The body however urging Ndigbo in general under the umbrella to endeavor to be law abiding and fellow due process in whatever they do ;stressing that anyone or group who decides to do anything with the name of the group should first approach the group for endorsement and clarification.
The president Lagos State Chapter thanked the Director_DSS , lagos service for the reception and time of deliberation, urging Ndigbo in general to be laws abiding in their conducts and endeavors.
Chief Sir Eric Eze Chief Sir Eric Eze finally used the situation to inform the general public that the Ohanaeze Ndigbo General Assembly WorldWide remains one and the same , united in purpose and mission,emphasising that for the first time ,the body has been re-positioned for it’s actual Constitutional roles which duly protects the interests of Ndigbo
