… Reiterates commitment to fish out perpetrators
…Calls on residents to maintain calm and promptly report knowledge of acts of crime and criminality to the Police
Following credible information received from Oruku Community in Nkanu East L.G.A. of Enugu State in the late hours of 23/01/2021 that hoodlums allegedly incited by some warring members of the community, burnt down buildings of fellow citizens and shot sporadically in the air, the Commissioner of Police, Enugu State Command, CP Mohammed Ndatsu Aliyu psc on Sunday 23/01/2021 at about 0730hrs led a team of Senior Police Officers and Operatives to the area to restore normalcy and carry out on-the-spot assessment of the crisis.
- The Commissioner, while describing the dastardly act of setting ablaze buildings belonging to fellow citizens and breaching of public peace in the community by the miscreants as unfortunate, has reiterated commitment to fish out the perpetrators as well as restore peace and order in area.
- To this end, he has enjoined residents of the Community and the State at large, to remain peaceful and be proactive in reporting knowledge of acts of crime and criminality to the Command to aid prompt action. He also called on warring members of the community to eschew bitterness and rancour, while embracing brotherly love and peace.
- Meanwhile, normalcy has been restored in the community, while the Commissioner, on-the-spot, directed the posting of Police Operatives to strategic locations in the community to forestall further breach of peace.
