CP ODUMOSU HOSTS LEADERSHIP OF THE NIGERIAN MEDICAL ASSOCIATION AT LAGOS COMMAND.

Over a fortnight ago the Nigerian polity erupted with the ENDSARS agitations which spread like a wild fire across the nation. It began as an extremely peaceful protest with which young Nigerians demanded the reform or the abolition of the special Anti Robbery Squad of the Nigeria Police.
The protest however took a new dimension when soldiers mobilised by the state authorities launched attack on the peaceful protesters at the lekki toll plaza where for weeks, Nigerians have been demonstrating and demanding for total police reform, good governance and improved economy.

There has been reports of violence since this military action at the lekki toll gate which has resulted into the burning of police stations and some government facilities. Lives of several protesters have been terminated, leading to greater agitations and bitterness in the polity.
Protests have also attracted reactions from the international community and human rights bodies.
At home, the Nigerian president has not made any meaningful reaction to the development, a posture that has continued to evoke anger and unrest.
The worry is that the number one citizen has maintained the number one citizen has maintained the silence that has continued to provoke the youths who direly need Mr. president to talk now. Refusal of the president to render a speech in this crucial time from all indications shows how irresponsible and unpatriotic the Nigerian leaders are.
Not even the national Assembly has made any meaningful statement on the development. So the wonder and shock is why those in the leadership are not perturbed about the killings and destructions .
If notting is done, and quick too, the protest may degenerate into an unmanageable state of anarchy.
